The Weight of Glory – C. S. Lewis (1980)
This surely must be something that should be taken in perspective. As a preventive cause, then then mastering the art of swimming would be a good safety measure but, there are times when the ability to swim is not enough.
There are times when the water is too deep, the shore too far away, the current rages and the body is too weak to be able to swim anymore. In these cases, then no matter how many swimming lessons were untaken, or however many certificates of achievement have been awarded the only hope for survival is for someone to throw out a lifeline.
A fitting metaphor for this day and age … maybe (?)
