The Screwtape Letters – C. S. Lewis
Pleasure is subjective and no two humans have the same view on it so, it would be difficult to determine what it is exactly. The bible helpfully provides some examples.
(Galatians 5:21) Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
(Timothy 5:6) But she who is self-indulgent is dead even while she lives.
(Thessalonians 4:3) For this is the will of God, your satisfaction: that you abstain from sexual immorality.
So, while some advice given was less than helpful on the equality stakes, other bits addressed a pure way of living, but mostly the thing to avoid was anything to do with the enjoyment of sexual pursuits. The answer apparently is for us to be monogamous, but as to what occurs between that marriage couple is less documented which doesn’t give any clues as to the issue of pleasure.
(Corinthians 7:2) But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.
Mind you, although it is taught that if you do something that contravenes the forbidden stuff, but then repent all your sins will be forgiven.
(John 1:9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Confused (?) … I don’t think you are the only ones.
