It is better for you and for everyone else in the long run that other people, including wicked ones, should exercise free will than that you should be protected from cruelty or treachery by turning the human race into automata.
Miracles - C. S. Lewis
I fail to see how this is at all correct regarding the suffering that is caused at the hands of some humans. That those that inflict hurt on animals and their fellow man, just because they can should have their actions vindicated because it is perceived as a human right to have freedom of choice. It begs the question as to what choice the victim had.
The innocent parties were just that, innocent and therefore should have expected to be protected from whatever someone else wishes to do to cause them harm. The victims of bullying cannot be expected to accept that, because of the freedom of choice of the perpetrator that they have to get hurt. The child that is neglected should not be accepted to just take it because it is the abusers right to choose to do that to them. The animal should not have to tolerate the atrocities that are inflicted on them simply because the human in question has the right to exercise free will as to their actions.
It is not just those that are considered as vulnerable that should be protected against the wrongs of other people. The laws of the land should be there for everyone that is a target for wrong doing, but more often than not the concept of innocent until proven guilty far outweighs the facts or common sense. There are far too many times that the saying, the punishment did not fit the crime is used and those that have suffered are let down.
