It is all about slowing down, taking time for yourself and establishing new habits that will last a lifetime.
Watching the Weather
The concept of weather to describe symptoms of imbalance
What have you observed about your unique weather system and what helps to clear issues?
Were there any shifting or lifting of sensations?
To start with I struggled with the concept of linking emotions to the idea of weather but as the week progressed I started to understand. The idea is that, like the weather things come and go and that by acknowledging the presence of the various issues then it is easier to start putting in place strategies to deal with them, or at least minimise the impact they have on everyday life.
Quote: Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is not promised, all we have is now (anonymous)
Thinking about it, I suppose this is just how life should be. The time spent worrying (often for no reason), the good times, the bad stuff and the hours spent when everything is just so. Those times when the mundane routines of living just get on with occupying your day.
Procrastination is my biggest weakness … and is something I need to change because there are so many times in my life I missed out on things because I was too lazy to get around to them.
So, I think however that Mother Teresa’s original version of that quote is a lot better …
“Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.”
I am a great believer in the saying, ‘What’s for you won’t go by you’ and so I have got to start to trust that more (let the bad weather pass without judgement). To not beat myself up for not achieving things or going after things and start seeing it as less of a failure on my part but more of an inevitable outcome.
New mantra - “It's only weather”
This I can relate to and plan to try and make it a part of my life from now on, saying it rather than getting anxious, frustrated, or annoyed (watch this space on that one – lol)
One thing I already do that does release tension - I take a deep breath, hold my nose tight and swallow (making my ears pop), then I breathe deeply until I feel calm and my heart rate slows.
So, this week I have identified things I already do, learnt some new techniques and picked-up a few points that hopefully I can put into practice within my life from now on.
