The Screwtape Letters – C. S. Lewis (1942)
It strikes me that some people seek out a church purely based on finding a place to fit-in, often regardless of the actual way the faith is practiced there.
This can be especially so when someone has relocated to live in a new location. Having lost the security and familiarity of where they have come from they then hunt around to fill that gap.
Churches within their chosen faith are pursued and if there are several in the area they are all checked-out over a period until one feels more like the place to worship regularly. Should there not be one that is suitable then this is when alternatives are explored.
There seems to be more of a need to find somewhere to belong, over the need to uphold a certain faith.
