Mere Christianity – C. S. Lewis (1952)
This Lewis sees as the real snag associated with drawing up a blueprint for the religion. That far from trying to live a life as dictated by the scriptures, some people tend to want to adapt the teachings to justify their own way of life.
My view is, and this applies to all religions … if there any of them actually have a blueprint for life then why is it so hidden in cryptic messages that it leaves itself open to personal interpretation?
Now, some would say that the various Gods and Deities have given man free-will to live out life in the way of their own choosing, but if that is so then I do not see the point of the blueprint in the first place. Also, if there is one true God then there should be one abiding true religion and not the vast array that are seen throughout the world, each believing that it is them.
So, humans are given the right to live as they choose, to worship who they choose and to follow the religion of their choice but, in doing so successfully plunge mankind into wars and conflicts because not everyone thinks the same.
Obviously, logic was never applied to any of those so-called blueprints.
