Mere Christianity – C. S. Lewis (1952)
This takes me back to the concept of what is good for one person maybe be viewed as bad by another.
There is a saying that opposites attract but, apart from within the realms of science I’m not so sure about the concept of that as far as people are concerned.
In my relationship, there are many things that we have totally opposite views on. Horror films, jazz, punk music, science, the need for background noise, innate television programs, putting things away so you can find them again, online games, rugby, well any sport really and the major one … sailing (there is no way I would venture onto a yacht to ‘enjoy’ battling the elements of wind, rain, and sea swell).
We will never agree on any of the above but that said we share a passion for animal (especially conservation, rescue, welfare and pets), the protection of the environment, socialisation events, good food, wine, beer and the beautiful place we now live. Whilst I am still not a lover of all whiskies I have been educated in the finer appreciation for certain distilleries since relocating to the west coast of Scotland.
So, even though we have very different takes on what is classed as good and bad within our lives, the things we agree on as being good far outweigh any problems caused by any of the bad stuff.
