Psychic experiences are a natural part of our everyday lives. People often have difficulty accepting this because without a frame of reference it is almost impossible to identify an extrasensory experience and to distinguish psychic sights, sounds, and sensations of the unconscious mind. To some extent, every human being on the planet is clairvoyant, clairaudient, and clairsentient, although most people discover that they are naturally adept at one more than the others.
Clairvoyant abilities may be able to see in their mind's eye events in a remote location; to witness incidents that have yet to occur; or to perceive shapes, colours, and other images that are physically invisible.
Clairaudience, which means clear listening, is the ability to hear sounds not physically audible. A person with the gift of clairaudience perceives psychic information as auditory resonance and may hear angelic voices, music, or other sounds.
Clairsentient, or clear feeling, individuals are able to sense physical, emotional, and spiritual energy in the form of seemingly unearthly scents, touches, and movements.
Each of these psychic abilities can manifest themselves within us voluntarily or involuntarily. It is natural for us to use these abilities; we need only practice.
Developing your psychic talents is a matter of releasing your fear of seeing, hearing, or feeling inexplicable or disquieting stimulus. Concentrate on your intuitive responses to the world around you and notice any sights, sounds, or feelings that enter your mind. If you trust your perceptions, you'll discover that each psychic impression you receive will be in some way relevant to your experience, even when that relevance may not be immediately recognizable.
My Thoughts:
My Nana was gifted with all sorts of mystical powers, so I was always surrounded by tarot cards, crystal balls, tealeaf readings and good old-fashioned gypsy-style fortune telling. It wasn’t until I started school that I realised how extraordinary all this was.
I remember, at a time long before pregnancy scans became so sophisticated, women would constantly be popping in for a cuppa to find out what colour wool to buy. I can never remember Nana ever being wrong, although there was one time when she insisted that both pink and blue would be required, and people laughed it off as her losing her touch, only for unexpected twins to actually be born, naturally it was a girl and a boy.
Nana said she would never read my cards or look into my future until I was sixteen, but unfortunately, she passed away before I reached that age. The only thing she ever told me was that there would be three men that would play a huge part in my life, and that two of them would be connected to the sea. My first husband wasn’t in any way, but my partner after I got divorced had been in the Royal Navy and then served in the merchant navy. When I lost him I re-married and at the time my new husband had no connection with boats or the water. However, I had always wanted to live not just by the sea but in a house that had a sea view, and when we moved to my dream location in Scotland, I asked him if there was anything that he had harboured a burning desire to try … he said sailing. After an introduction course he was hooked and went on to complete a competence crew certificate and a day skipper licence. So, it seems Nana was right after all.
They say this kind of thing skips a generation and whilst I love to read tarot cards and admit to frequently seeing ghosts, I do not dabble in anything else, even though I do own a crystal ball. However, my husband lovingly refers to me as a witch, especially as I have such a close bond with one of the cats that he calls her my little familiar … so who knows, maybe I am more gifted than I think, well I have to say I do love everything gothic, mystic, steampunk and spooky, which I suppose … says a lot.
