In my time I have gone for a lot of job interviews and, as with most people usually I walk away with a notion of which ones were okay, and which were not. However, if I am honest it is the ones that I had no ideas about how they went they usually ended up being the most successful.
So today saw me once again suited-up and sitting in a waiting room to be called in, but this time it was different. I am not bothered if I get a job or not. I hit retirement age next month and collect my civil service pension, so the idea of a job has become something that has got to be what I want to do. I am only applying for things that I think will interest me and, more importantly things I hope will be fun. I no longer what the responsibilities of staff management, or to climb any corporate ladder. All I want is to work a few days a week, do what is expected of me and come home with no work-related worries. Tall order … but you never know it may just pan out and if not, well then it was never meant to be so I will just enjoy my retirement.
