The Problem of Pain – C. S. Lewis (1940)
I have always had a very diverse taste in what I read, but it was not until I went to university that I was actually able to pinpoint that what they all have in common is that regardless of genre the writing is clever.
The books make me think, the plots keep me intrigued, or they are written in a unique style. I also like those that take a familiar theme but put a new and unique twist to it or a well-hidden twist to the end.
Some of the books that fit into this include … The Book Thief (2005) by Markus Zusak,
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas (2008) by John Boyne, Reapers Inc series by Angela Roquet, The Dragons of Pern by Anne McCaffrey and Earthsea series by Ursula Le Guin.
